About Us

Who We Are

The United Parish of Carver is a unique place.  The church was born when three small struggling congregations (Baptist, Congregationalist, and Methodist) decided to combine forces and form a “united” protestant church.

Our membership represents a variety of theological perspectives.  We believe, however, that the reason for out being is a mutual commitment to doing God’s work.  Together we attempt to do what we cannot do alone.  We find strength, peace of mind, and an expanded view of what God desires as we worship, fellowship, study and serve together.

Our Purpose

We worship together.

We seek a genuine and heartfelt experience of God’s presence.  Our worship is grounded in the truth of the Bible and relevant to daily life.

We share life together as a family.

We know that the Christian life is more than believing, it involves belonging.  We have fun together, care for each other, and love to welcome new members.

We grow together.

We are on a journey, developing spiritual maturity by becoming like Jesus in how we think, feel, and act.  The Bible is the roadmap for our journey.

We serve together.

We recognize that every believer is a minister.  And together we discover the unique way God has made each of us and use that distinctiveness to serve others.

We share God’s love together.

More than anything, we want to introduce others to Jesus and help them discover their unique purpose in life.

Our Beliefs

United Parish Faith Statement

We believe in the one true, holy and living God, creator of all things, who by His sovereign power continues to sustain His creation and who is infinite in power, wisdom, justice, goodness, mercy, and love.  We believe that God reveals Himself as the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, distinguished from each other, but inseparable, equal in power and glory, eternal in being.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, true God and true man.  He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  We believe His life was dedicated to reconciling men to God even unto His suffering and death on a cross.  We believe He was buried in the ground for three days after which He came to life in glory, ascended into heaven where He intercedes on our behalf.  We believe He will come again in glory.  Jesus is our Lord and Savior.

We believe that the Holy Spirit, also true God has been bestowed upon us to bind in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues and races.  We velieve the Holy Spirit glorifies our Lord, Jesus Christ, and helps renew us, His church.  The Holy Spirit convicts men, regenerates the sinner, and dwells within those who accept Him.  The Holy Spirit baptizes believers into the body of Christ and gives them spiritual gifts to be used for the common good of the church body and enables the production of the fruit of the Spirit; which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control; in the believers’ life.

We believe the scriptures found in both the Old and New Testaments are the inspired word of God, unchanging, infallible and inerrant in its intent.  We believe the teachings of Jesus found in the New Testament are to be the rules of faith and practice, and that living in accordance with these rules is the true test of fellowship.  All teaching and doctrine are to be based on what the Bible says.

We believe that eternal life with God is offered by the grace of God as a free gift and not the result of any human works or goodness.  As written in the Bible, salvation of the believer is promised, but requires an acknowledgement of sin, a repentance of the sin, and acceptance that Jesus’ death and resurrection was the payment for the sin.

We believe that Jesus is the head of our church.  By the power of the Holy Spirit, we believe it is our responsibility to proclaim the gospel, become witnesses by our actions which are stronger than words, remember and administer the Lord’s supper and offer the sacrament of baptism.  We believe God chooses members of His church and we become believers through His grace, therefore we welcome everyone to join us in worshipping our Lord, Jesus Christ.
